The first Major group of Search Engine Land’s Periodic Table of SEO Ranking Factors is On The Page Factors.
“On The Page search ranking factors are those that are entirely within the publisher’s own control. What type of content do you publish? Are you providing important HTML clues that help search engines with determining relevancy? How does your site architecture help or hinder search engines?”
“Content is king.”
Do you want to run a successful SEO campaign? Then you need to create quality content. As a search-engine-optimization specialist, you need to be more than just an information booth.
Quality content needs to be unique, captivating, and substantial. You must offer different content from that of your competitors. If your customer can obtain the same information from a dozen other sites, you need to optimize your content to get them to click on your Web site. The goal is to not only to get traffic to click on your site but to stay on your site and possibly even purchase your product!
Quality content “is literally the cornerstone upon which other factors depend.”
Keep It Updated:
Quality content needs to be well-written and fresh. Look at social media sites. Your audience wants to know what’s happening right now. Just as I learned in Journalism class, readers want timely, newsworthy, and relevant news.
No one wants to read poorly written and dead content. No one will be your evangelist and sell your product or brand to their friends.
